Marijuana Garden Restoration Cleanup Program
Balch Camp Event March 17th - 20th, 2005

Additional Information and what to bring

Saturday March 5, 2005

You are receiving this email because you have signed up for this trip.
On Friday March 4th eleven of us did a pre-scout of the event and this
email is to inform you of what to expect and bring!

First, PG&E camp space for us is very nice! We have a Men's and Women's
bathroom, each with one toilet and two showers, and very spacious. We
don't have a campfire area, but we have all the electrical power we
could ever need so Phil will set up our laptop and projector to show all
the pictures of the day's work, so if you have a digital camera and a
card reader please bring it and we'll download your pictures and show
the movies both nights. The area is very green and the wildflowers are
out of this world! The nighttime temps will depend on our weather in the
valley, but I am praying for mid-40s and daytime temps from 75 to 85..or
it could be raining - sorry but I have no control over the weather.

I must clearly communicate that this is unlike anything you or I have
ever done, so take all your preconceived ideas and toss them - yes, this
will be more difficult than what you think but not for the reasons you
think! Much of the time will be spent on your hands and knees crawling
under and over brush, pulling the drip line; also you may have 200
plants in one area, 500 in the next, and 375 in another area, and they
may be 50 feet or 50 yards apart! One garden alone has over 3000 plant
sites. So here are the items we feel you should not be without:

. Coveralls, or at least long pants and long-sleeve shirts,
gaiters are great too! If you attend both days you may want
        to bring two sets
. If you have knee pads, bring them
. Three to five water bottles - quart size please!
. Insect repellent for ticks
. Duct tape - lots for rolling the drip line and taping your pant
legs to your boot to keep the dirt and everything out
. Very sharp pocket knife or kitchen shears for cutting the drip
        line
. Rain gear, just in case

We will provide the hard hats, gloves and normal tools we use. (You
will want to wear the hard hats going thru the brush!)
