The largest tree that we had on this trip about a two footer which was "fresh". Being fresh, it has pitch inside it which causes the saw to stick. We use WD-40 or diesel fuel to keep the saw "de-pitched".
06/14/2003 09:35 AM 2,087,471 P6140017.JPG, photograph by Eric
One of the first things to do is "de-bark" the tree where we will be cutting. It is supposed to keep the saw sharper.
06/14/2003 09:42 AM 2,144,357 P6140018.JPG, photograph by Eric
When the main tree is cut, it will roll into another one. So the smaller tree also has to be removed.
